Aaltovoima's Star Employee of the Month, Shane Brennan, is an experienced restaurant industry professional who approaches his work with a positive attitude and always wants to offer customers a good experience. Originally from Ireland, Shane has had the opportunity through Aaltovoima to work across Finland and build up his experience in the restaurant industry.
Ten years in the restaurant industry
Originally from Ireland, Shane Brennan has worked in the restaurant industry as a waiter for ten years already. Over the years, the work has become much more to him than just a profession. Meeting people, good customer service, and taking care of customer comfort are things that motivate him in his work.
Experience has taught Shane versatile skills, managing different situations, and the importance of cooperation. He constantly wants to learn new things and develop his skills.
Work through Aaltovoima opened new doors
Shane first heard about Aaltovoima through a job advertisement published online. The opportunity sparked his interest, and he decided to apply to try out new job opportunities.
His first job assignment through Aaltovoima took him to Pyhä, Lapland, where he worked as a waiter in a restaurant for a few months during the tourist season. The new environment, coworkers, and the opportunity to get to know new people made the experience special.
– One of my most memorable experiences has been the opportunity to work in Lapland and experience Finland's beautiful winter. Living and working in such a magnificent environment was unique, and I am grateful to Aaltovoima for this opportunity, Shane says.
After Lapland, Shane has continued working through Aaltovoima in the Pirkanmaa region. At the same time, he has gained more experience in the restaurant industry and new opportunities to develop his professional skills.
A positive attitude shows in everyday work
For Shane, the foundation of good work is simple: it is always worth doing your best, treating others respectfully, and being a good team member.
In new or challenging situations, he strives to remain calm, keep an open mind, and search for solutions. A positive attitude is maintained by focusing on successes, learning from experiences, and enjoying meeting people.
In the restaurant industry, every workday can bring new situations. It is precisely the variety of the work, delighting customers, and working together that make the work meaningful for Shane.
