Aaltovoima's star employee: Kari

Kari started his career as a carpenter at a young age in the 1980s. He became familiar with the everyday life of construction sites early on, and along the way he has also worked as an ambulance driver and in emergency care. He has over 35 years of experience in the construction industry – and his enthusiasm and professional pride are still intact.

“Work has always been more than just a means of livelihood for me. I want to do things properly and see the results of my work.”

Kari is also a true Aaltovoima veteran – he started with us in 2010 and has been involved in seeing the company's growth and development up close. The long journey together speaks of commitment and strong trust on both sides.

Kari came to Aaltovoima through acquaintances, and the first job confirmed the feeling that this is a good team. He especially appreciates the fact that the work is flexible and communication is uncomplicated.

The tasks in the construction industry have been diverse – from demolition and renovation to new construction. However, Kari has always considered the attitude to do things to be the most important thing: the work must be of high quality, and colleagues must be taken care of.

“When I start a job, I first think about how it should be done. I like to do it right and efficiently at once.”

He draws motivation above all from the joy of doing and continuous development. Kari emphasizes that a good feeling at work does not come naturally – it has to be earned every day. She keeps herself fit by exercising in a variety of ways: she plays badminton a couple of times a week and goes dancing occasionally. Exercise and good energy keep her mind fresh.

“Attitude cannot be bought – it has to come from within. When a person develops, work also develops.”

Kari's values in working life

Kari's life and work are guided by strong values – home, religion and homeland. They are visible in the way he works, meets people and takes responsibility. He believes that when the foundation is in place and the values are clear, it is easier to make decisions and act correctly even in the midst of rush and pressure.

“Home is where everything starts. Religion gives direction, and the homeland is our common home – we also take care of it through work.”

Kari describes the cooperation with Aaltovoima as smooth and reliable. Jobs are found quickly, and the agreed-upon things hold.

“The collaboration has worked great from the beginning. The deal has worked and the plans have held. We have good trust on both sides.”

Looking to the future

Kari still looks to the future through doing: learning, collaboration and good spirits. The most important thing is that things work and everyone does their best – it always shows in the end result.
