Pasi Kallio - April's star employee

A long road to a profession

Construction is not just a job for everyone – for others it is a way of looking at the world. Pasi Kallio is exactly that kind of person. His career speaks of perseverance, professional pride and a desire to constantly develop.

Even at a young age, Pasi knew that working with his hands was his thing. The decision made in junior high school to apply to Hämeenlinna Vocational School to study carpentry was the first step towards a long career in construction. His carpentry studies took him along, but his interest quickly grew in broader construction work – and that began a journey that has now lasted almost three decades.

28 years on construction sites is reflected in his experience and confidence. Pasi has done practically everything possible between the floor and the roof, but he has become particularly familiar with reinforcement work and the related carpentry tasks. The first construction site through Aaltovoima at the New Children's Hospital in Helsinki immediately set the bar high – and at the same time launched a working collaboration that continues to this day.

Attitude is key

Pasi's work combines strong professionalism and the right attitude. His motto is simple but demanding: do as you would do for yourself. It shows in the work - in the care, finishing touches and desire to do things properly from start to finish. Self-criticism is not a burden for him, but a force that pushes him forward.

The versatility of the work brings motivation. At its best, a construction site offers varied tasks: masonry, screed work, suspended ceilings – continuous learning and doing new things. New situations are not an obstacle, but an opportunity: first you think about how to do the job – and then you get to work.

A good work ethic doesn't happen by chance. Pasi takes care of his fitness with determination: he goes on several runs each week and gym training keeps his body strong and his movements smooth. Physical fitness supports coping in everyday life and is also reflected in work.

Work that leaves a mark

One of the most memorable projects for Pasi has been the Kirkkonummi church pediment, where he was able to work on a restoration project. The work offered the opportunity to try something new – plastering – but also to utilize the original carpentry skills in decorative wooden structures. It is precisely projects like this that remind us why the industry is so rewarding.

According to Pasi, the collaboration with Aaltovoima has been smooth: the agreed-upon things hold, and there is continuity between the construction sites. It creates security and gives you the opportunity to focus on what is essential – doing the job well.

Pasi's message to those considering the industry is straightforward: it is worth seizing the opportunities. The construction industry offers a versatile career where learning never ends. And when the attitude is right, the work is rewarding.

Pasi Kallio is an example of what is created when experience, professionalism and the right attitude meet. He doesn't just build projects – he builds quality that lasts.

The entire Aaltovoima team would like to thank Pasi for his excellent work, commitment and attitude, which is visible both behind the work and in the work community. It is a pleasure and an honor to work with a professional who does his job with heart – day in and day out.
